A DREAM TRAVEL- The City Of Indian Dreams (Mumbai)
The City Of Dreams
Gateway Of IndiaCulture and language is one of the most challenging, interesting and the most enriching experiences available to individuals and collectively. Through travelling one can learn about the unfamiliar culture which compel us to see past our tunneled vision of perceptions.
Stepping off the airport from Delhi into the bustle of Mumbai (Bombay), it felt like coming to a new world!
The feeling was not a complete surprise, after all there are plenty of Delhi crowd to be found around Mumbai beyond the red double-decker buses, and Mumbai have been compared hundreds of times.
Since first stepping into Mumbai, the city has always had a special hold on me, one that led me to return many times as many of my relatives lives there.
Despite my love to Mumbai, for many visitors, it’s an overwhelming place – although the crown of India’s largest city has now been nabbed by Delhi. Mumbai can be chaotic, traffics, crazy, charming and full of happiness .
With all that said there are not many cities in the world where you can stroll by the ocean, eat delicious street food for under 100rs, sightseeing a movie stars that are passing by you, party in 5* hotels, visit parks and plays within the city limits in the same day.
Mumbai is truly a city of contrasts – some of the world’s richest live next to those with very little, and it’s somewhat ironic that Dharavi – marketed as Asia’s largest slum has become the number one tourist attraction in India, surpassing even the Taj Mahal.
Slum Tours – But Should you Go?
Many Mumbaikers would not like their city to be known foremost for its slums. There’s much more to Mumbai than Dharavi.
What is Dharavi?
Dharavi is very different from most slums. Half of Dharavi is an industrial area, and it is this part which is usually shown during tours, not where people live.
I request you to please follow this before visiting Mumbai.
- Do not go to Dharavi on your own
- Do not go to Dharavi with other tour companies. These are just profiting off peoples’ poverty, as these companies do not reinvest anything into improving conditions in Dharavi.
Best Tours of Mumbai
I highly recommend doing day tours of Mumbai – it helps make the most of your visit, especially if you have limited time, ease you in to the pace of being in Mumbai (fast!). Here are some of my favorites:
- Early Morning Tour of Mumbai – Mumbai’s real beauty can be seen before most people are awake, in the calm before the storm. See the under-belly of this huge city by sightseeing the early sunrise, beautiful pleasant nature, fresh scent of beaches, birds chirping and flying in a group.I promise it’s worth the early start!
- Imagica – If you love rides then go for it! Rides are for all category aged people. There are many rides for under 5 years, teenagers, adult and old age people. Lot many shows, water splash rides, scary and fun rides are there including meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

- Theatre Play– Theatre plays are very famous in Mumbai filled with outstanding and perfectionist casts with their respective roles. Delhi too have plays but not in a large scale like in Mumbai. I and my family watched a play 'Pitaji Please' which was also casted by Shashi Kapoor's niece Zahan Kapoor' , Swanand Kirkire, Snehal Malgundkar, Madhuri Gawli and Aakanksha Gade. The characters are absolutely phenomenal.

- Street Food Joints– Delhi crowds are foodies! But Mumbai street food is giving a tough competition and its just astonishing. You'll find many food joints everywhere in Mumbai. Street foods are totally incompatible from Delhi ones serving different varieties and tastes. For example 'Dosa' We normally have a taste bud of plain, masala, rawa, paper and many type of dosas. But what about Mexican dosa, Italian pizza dosa, Kabab dosa?
This is equally the mouth watering street foods. There are many other contrasting street foods like Schezwan Idlis and dosa, Pani puri, Vada Pao, Pao Bhaji, Jalebi.
The most prime item you must try is FRUIT SHOTS and GUAVA CHILLI ICE CREAM. I am sure you would love it!
- Bounce– An energetic indoor game filled with so many fun and thrilled activities. This is the biggest trampoline park in India and recently it introduced. This is situated in Infinity Mall, New Link Rd, Malad West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400064. This game is basically for youngster (children and teenagers) The duration package slot is per hour. There are young trainers who guides you how to play on trampoline with different physics posture.
